As you have noticed, most of my postings have been about the dam. There are several reasons for that:
1. I am the Council's interface and oversight for the Dam Project.
2. There is a great deal of interest. We are all hoping for a prompt refilling of our lake so we can have a great boating season in 2010, providing it ever stops snowing. With the snow pack we have, I am betting on it.
3. There is little else to talk about right now other than the dam or snow, and I think we, who live at the lake full time, have all said enough and seen enough snow.
Oh, did I mention, its snowing?
Other news:
Lodge scheduled to reopen March 26th. Yea. Here's wishing Pat St. Clair another wonderful year. Boy have I missed the Lodge.
I will have for you a complete update on the remediation project for you in my next post.

Meeting Postponed
The meeting with the DEP at our dam has been rescheduled from Friday (2/26) to next Wednesday, March 3rd. The weather is again part of the problem. Keeping my fingers crossed that the weather 'experts' are wrong.

Progress
The weather may not be ideal but work is progressing on the dam.
We have a meeting with the DEP at the dam on Friday. Following that I should have some meaty news for you.

Dam work restarted
We have had to curtail drawing down the level of Indian Lake due to the effect on the ice at Lake Stoneycreek. There are individuals who ice fish there and it could be a safety issue. The DEP is allowing us to continue grouting with the lake at its present level. Grouting has restarted today. Keeping my fingers crossed for acceptable weather, hope you are also.

More on the Dam
The valve through the dam will be opened on Thursday 2/18 and closed again on Friday 2/19/10. We achieve approximately a one foot drop in the lake with the valve opened for a day. No work has been performed either last week or this week due to the weather. Council extended the contract for this Phase from March 1 until March 22.
What is needed is two weeks of dry, cool (upper 20's) weather to complete the work that requires the lake level to be down. With the snow cover we have there should be no problem with the lake refilling.
