Lake safety

I strongly encourage you to read the Mayor's Quarterly Report, as issued by email today. The borough crew is doing the best they can, but there is an awful lot of debris out there.
One editorial comment, the decision to not patrol the lake this summer was a very agonizing decision for the Council to reach. The bottom line is that the borough does not have the money to either repair or replace our patrol boat. The repair on this 1991 boat would cost about $5000, and members of Council felt that this was a poor investment. To purchase a new boat suited for the job would cost $15,000 or more. We are also facing the need to replace our police cruiser shortly, it is laid up today for the second time this month.
Take it easy and be safe out there.
