More rumors seem to float around, people believe them and pass them on rather than checking them out. This false information just festers and grows. Some that I have heard lately:
1. Rumor - The level of the lake will be dropped.
Fact- there are no plans to drop the level of the lake this year.
2. Rumor- The Council is going to approve on-lot holding tanks for raw sewerage on lots that do not perk.
Fact- Council is not even considering such a proposal. A proposal has been brought forth to permit Small Flow Treatment Facilities with Holding Tank on lots that do not perk. The effluent held by the holding tank is treated, not raw, sewerage.
3. Rumor- Terry St. Clair built the condos, renovated the Arrowhead Condos, and renovated the Lodge, without proper permits and does not have Occupancy Permits.
Fact- All proper permits were obtained by Mr. St. Clair, these have been reviewed by members of Council and confirmed by Somerset Building Inspectors.
4. Rumor- The Mayor has used his authority to delay a permit issuance to a property owner 'to get even' for an election issue.
Fact- This never happened. The Mayor does not even have the authority to issue or delay a permit.
May I suggest that when you hear of a Rumor you find out if its true before passing it on. If it involves the Borough Council, call one of us, our telephone numbers are all public. Council can be emailed at COUNCIL@indianlakepa.us>.
